No vaults. Just folders.

Hide a private folder in place. JEP hides it from normal browsing and scrambles its names. Unlock to restore it.

Free demo. Pro is $9.99 once. No subscription.

One flat folder · unlimited files · no signup · no expiry

Apple Silicon · macOS 13+ · Windows 10/11, x64

01 / why

Not every private folder needs an encrypted vault.

You just don't want casual browsing. A roommate borrowing your laptop. A coworker glancing over during a screen share. A folder appearing in search during a demo.

JEP hides folders and scrambles their names, right where they are. Unlock with your fingerprint or face on supported devices, or use your PIN. File contents stay unchanged by default.

02 / how it works

Three steps.

STEP 01

Pick a folder.

It stays where it is. No need to copy anything.

STEP 02

It's hidden and scrambled.

JEP hides the folder and scrambles its file and subfolder names. Your files stay where they are.

STEP 03

Unscrambled when you want it.

Choose how long it stays visible. While JEP is running, it hides and scrambles the folder again when time is up. You can also lock it sooner.

On macOS, locked folders are hidden from normal Finder browsing and excluded from Spotlight.

Reinstalled JEP? Reconnect locked folders with the same PIN and their intact recovery metadata.

03 / what JEP is, and isn't

Not encryption. Not trying to be.

JEP is a casual privacy tool for keeping ordinary folders out of sight on a shared computer.

  • Accidental discovery

04 / faq

A few honest questions.

Hide one flat folder with unlimited files and no subfolders. No signup, card, or expiry. The same concealment and timed relock as paid.

Yes. $9.99 USD one-time per platform. No subscription. The full app is available now for Mac and Windows. Mac and Windows are separate purchases. See pricing. Updates are included. Future major upgrades may cost extra and are always optional.

No. JEP hides folders and scrambles their names. File contents stay unchanged by default, so someone who finds the files may still recognize and open them. Use encryption for high-stakes secrets.

Casual discovery: a private folder turning up while someone browses your computer, shares your screen, or searches for something else. It does not stop malware, admins, or determined technical users. Unlocked folders are visible as usual.

Yes, in every mode. Keep independent, usable backups. Renames, filesystem errors, and other software can still interfere with an operation; recovery is not guaranteed. JEP does not remove older copies, cached previews, or existing search records.

A folder may stay unlocked until you reopen JEP. Automatic relocking runs while the app is open; at next launch, JEP catches up on expired sessions and checks incomplete operations. It repairs what it can and reports anything that needs attention.

Your PIN is stored locally in JEP's application data. If that data is still readable, the PIN can be recovered. It is never sent to us. If both the PIN and that data are gone, the folder's recovery file cannot unlock it by itself.

Yes, with a mounted folder JEP can access. Keep the drive connected during locking and unlocking. A disconnected drive can delay automatic relocking; compatibility depends on the drive and filesystem.

Yes. Optional content scrambling changes a small part of each file in place, which can make file types and previews harder to recognize. It is not encryption and can damage files if writes are interrupted or other software interferes. Keep independent, usable backups. Existing installations keep their saved setting.

Use your 4–6 digit PIN, or enable Touch ID or Windows Hello on a supported device after setup. JEP restores the folder and hides it again when your unlock session ends, while the app is running.
